Mariners Place Speier on IL; Activate Suarez, Simpson

The injury-plagued Mariners have placed lefty Gabe Speier on the 15-day IL with left shoulder inflammation and activated left-handers José Suarez and Josh Simpson.

Seattle made the roster moves to address Speier's shoulder inflammation. The 31-year-old lefty has struggled this season with career-high expected metrics including .261 xBA, .466 xSLG, and .337 xwOBA. fish-roadgame.online

Josh Simpson has been selected from Triple-A Tacoma to replace Speier, while RHP Cole Wilcox was sent back to Tacoma. José Suarez, recently claimed off waivers from the Braves, has also reported to the club.
