Mets Place Mauricio on IL, Call Up Brujan

The New York Mets have placed infielder Ronny Mauricio on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb fracture and called up Vidal Brujan from Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets made the roster moves Sunday after Mauricio suffered the injury during Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels when he dived into first base. Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Mauricio could be out 6-8 weeks as he awaits further details from a CT scan scheduled for Monday. truewildslot.com

To make room for Brujan on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated infielder Eric Wagaman for assignment. Brujan, 28, is set to make his Mets debut after being acquired from the Minnesota Twins in January. The right-handed hitter will be used interchangeably with Bo Bichette at shortstop, according to Mendoza, as the Mets continue to deal with multiple position player injuries.
